about jo

Hi, I’m Jo, a leading dog photographer based in Chichester, West Sussex. I’m deeply committed to providing my amazing clients with an unforgettable photography experience and delivering wall art that exceeds their expectations and takes their breath away!

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN for me

My love for animals runs deep. I grew up with Trudy, a highly strung miniature poodle. She lived until she was an impressive 18 years and I loved her dearly.

I then bought my first dog, a Westie in 2000. Jasper was stubborn and had real attitude and I adored him. However, I learned the hard way how quickly and often suddenly our treasured pets can leave us, when I lost Jasper.

Although I had always intended to get professional portraits taken of him, life was busy, and I thought there was plenty of time. Sadly, in the blink of an eye, Jasper was gone and I was left with just mobile phone photos as memories.

Photo taken on my mobile phone with no photography training!

When I tried to enlarge them for printing I realised I had no photographs of him that were of sufficient quality to put on my wall at home

This regret has stayed with me ever since.

So my decision to buy a professional camera was sparked by an equally significant purchase: Archie, my mischievous yet irresistibly cuddly Cavapoo!

TO WHERE I AM TODAY

My adorable boy! Portrait captured with a professional camera and hours of photography and retouching!

I used my new camera to document the key moments in Archie’s life and turned my favourite portraits into wall art. These now proudly adorn my walls at home, and the love and sheer joy I feel every time I look at them is priceless. I also no longer worry about not having a lasting reminder of my cheeky and adorable little boy!

It was in those moments that I was inspired to bring the same joy to those who, like me, have busy lives. I also wanted to help others who shared the same fear: that one day, their beloved pets would no longer be with them.

I now get to witness the joy and emotion on the faces of my special clients as they unbox their one-of-a-kind artwork and see the unique character of their beloved four-legged family member staring back at them.

That feeling is immeasurable and is the very reason Joanna Jones Photography exists today!

Jo Ferris & Kenny

“I was so thrilled with my photographs of my dog. Jo was so patient, creative and professional. So fortunate that they were taken as poor Kenny died suddenly in January. I look at his photograph and all the memories come back. Thank you”

2024 highlight: 2 charity calendars

2024 Highlight: Two Charity Calendars

In October, I had the privilege of meeting some incredible people and their adorable dogs. I photographed 24 unique breeds to create two special calendars—one for Cancer Research featuring small breeds, and another for Mount Noddy Animal Rescue showcasing large breeds. Together, we raised an impressive £1,500 for these deserving charities.

A huge thank you to everyone involved—without your support, this goal would not have been possible!
