Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if you are the right photographer for me?

I completely understand that you want to find the right fit for your photography needs. I would suggest you initially read my “About Me” page as this will tell you a little about me and why I became a pet photographer.  You can read testimonials on my Website, Facebook and Google Reviews.  Check out my Portfolio to see if my style of photography appeals to you. Finally, I believe in the personal touch so unless you indicate otherwise, I will visit you at your home where I can meet you, your family and pet(s) and you’ll get to know me.  I am confident that you’ll conclude that we’re a good fit and if not, I sincerely hope you find the right person.

Is it going to be expensive?

I appreciate that I am not the cheapest photographer in this area but I am worth it! The packages I offer have a great deal of value packed within them and my past clients are always delighted with the service and products I provide.  In fact, I have repeat customers!  That being said, you will know your budget and I fully respect any decision you make in this regard.  I will explain my pricing at the various touch points throughout the process so you fully understand the commitment you are making.  I will also provide you with a Pricing and Session guide when you book your photography experience.  I will never use pressurised sales tactics and you don’t have to purchase anything beyond your initial investment should you choose.  You order what best fits your needs, style, and budget.  Most clients tend to invest between £500 and £1500 on their photography session and artwork.  Some spend more, others less, but there is no minimum spend and there is something for everyone.  If you decide not to book with me, I hope that we have the opportunity to work again in the future.

What do you photograph?

Primarily, my clients have dogs but I am completely comfortable and open to photographing cats, horses tortoises, rabbits, etc. Whatever you have, get in touch and we can discuss your photography vision!

What areas do you offer your photography services?

I am happy to travel as far as necessary as it is important to me to give you the opportunity to have some stunning artwork of your treasured pet.  Within a 30-mile radius, I do not charge any travel fees, but any further, I charge 45p per mile.

I have multiple pets, can you photograph them all?

The simple answer is Yes! The package includes 2 pets and generally, there is a £25-50 fee for additional animals. Get in touch with your needs and I can advise you more accurately.

What if my dog can’t be off lead?

No problem! This is perfectly ok and with the magic of my Photoshop skills collars, harnesses and leads can be removed. Every session comes with complimentary leash/harness removal in Photoshop. Plus I have helpful tips and tricks to use during your session if your dog is on a lead.

What if my dog isn’t well-trained?

Don’t worry at all! Most of my clients don’t have perfectly mannered dogs and it’s okay! I have worked with dogs of all breeds, ages, and training levels and had successful photo sessions. Of course, having basic obedience skills or fun tricks can help make the photo session more fun and give us more control over the final images. However, it’s not a requirement and this shouldn’t hold you back because of it.  I offer free obedience training advice if you are interested.

What if my dog is high energy?

I am used to working with pets that get the “zoomies” or have a strong prey drive.  I always do my best to keep the photography session low-key and stress-free. If you are worried about how your dog will handle a photo session, just let me know when booking and I will plan accordingly.

My pet needs time to warm up to new people. Will a photo shoot stress him/her out?

I am used to working with pets of different breeds and personalities in all sorts of situations and always do my best to keep the photography session low-key and stress-free.

If you are worried about how your pet will handle a photo session, just let me know when booking and we’ll plan accordingly. Part of the purpose of the in-home consultation is to allow your pet to meet and get used to me and my camera, so they don’t see a stranger on the day of the photo shoot. I will also offer tips and tricks to make the photo session go smoothly AND still get some stunning images. If necessary I am happy to end the session early and redo the shoot another day and where necessary do some de-sensitisation work to prevent any stress or anxiety at our next session.

My pet is elderly/ill and time is limited. I would like to schedule right away. Is this possible?

DEFINITELY YES! Please don’t worry, I will move heaven and earth to schedule a prompt session to photograph your pet.  Get in touch for a no-obligation chat.  I offer special discounts for pets with a terminal diagnosis.

Can I/we be in the photos?

Yes! You are completely welcome to be in as many photos as you like. Some clients want a combination of images.  Let me know in advance and I can plan from there.  There may be some additional fees if multiple numbers are involved but I can advise you.

What if I don't want to be in the photos?

No problem!  Most of my clients want photos of their dogs and don’t want to be in front of the camera!  Bear in mind though that you can be in the photo without having to look at the camera with the use of creative angles, such as you gazing at your pet (focus on the animal and not you), waist down, paw on hands, pet between your feet, from behind and other views that don’t focus on your face.

What should I bring to the photo session?

Before your session, we’ll discuss everything you might need to consider. Usually, you don’t need to bring much, other than the basics, leads and favourite toys if appropriate but it all depends on your dog and the type of photos you are hoping for. I’ll cover this specifically for you during our initial planning appointment.

Can I include props?

Yes, you are welcome to include any meaningful object in the photos. During our initial planning appointment, mention this if you want to add props.  Bear in mind that you may need to do some training with your pet if they are not used to interacting with the prop.

What if the weather is bad?

When I schedule appointments I always advise my clients to be flexible with timings for the session as appropriate weather conditions are vital for perfect photos.  If the weather forecast isn’t optimal, such as rain or bright sunshine, we’ll coordinate and agree on a new date.

What if I don’t have any location ideas?

Not a problem, I have an extensive list of locations! We can discuss the options and I can show you photos of some location choices.  Regardless, we’ll find the perfect location for you, your dogs, and the style you’re going for.

Can my photo session take place at more than one location?

Absolutely. As we plan your session, we can discuss location options.

What if I don’t know what to wear?

No problem! I share my tips and tricks with a “What to Wear Guide” and can even offer advice on your specific choices over email or in person during the initial consult.

Do you offer traditional studio photography?

Not at this current moment. However, in future, I may expand to studio-style photography.

What happens after my photo session?

We all go home tired and happy!  I then start the behind-the-scenes work on organising, editing your images and selecting the best to show you! We’ll coordinate our schedules for the Viewing and Ordering Session, which will be our next step together. I usually aim to do this within a few days after your photo session. This will be the first opportunity to see the portraits I have taken and I can also show you samples of the products available for purchase. My clients tell me this process is very helpful and exciting! After you’ve made your selections, I go to work and complete the Master Art Retouching of your chosen images so they are perfect.  I then order your products, which usually take 4-8 weeks to be delivered to me.  When I receive your artwork, I willensure they meet my high standards before I deliver them to you at home (unless you specify otherwise). This is my favourite part and I never tire of seeing the emotional response of my delighted clients!

How long does the process take?

Generally, from the Photo Session to when I hand deliver your order, I tell my clients to expect it to take 4-8 weeks. Several factors affect this, but in most cases, it takes around 6 weeks.

If you have a deadline or a timeline you’d like to meet, just let me know at the beginning of the process and I will always work with you as best I can.
