Dog owners occasionally ask me for recommendations on great grooming parlours to take their dog or cat before their photography session with me. As a result, I have decided to write a series of blogs about the go-to groomers in West Sussex. In this blog, I will provide information about dog groomers in East Preston, Rustington and Angmering. I’ll be covering more areas in subsequent blog posts.

Pet Parlour- The Dog & Cat salon, Rustington

The Pet Parlour- Dog & Cat Salon, is bright, spacious and impeccably clean. It has a really homely feel which aligns with Jo and her team’s ethos that grooming should be carried out in a calm, relaxed environment. They have a 1:1 policy for personalised attention and each groomer has a dedicated room for a peaceful experience. This approach is particularly beneficial for nervous or rescued pets. They use gentle, positive and ethical techniques and avoid causing discomfort or stress to their four-legged clients.

Jo, the business owner, has worked in the pet industry for 11 years and has experience in canine & feline nutrition, doggy day-care, boarding, grooming services and dog sports. What resonated with me during my visit is the passion that Jo and her staff have for giving pets the best of everything from a very professional grooming service to ethically sourced nutrition and pet accessories.

A few doors down from the Parlour you’ll find Paws Pantry. The shop also owned by Jo, offers raw, natural and chemical-free foods and supplies for cats & dogs, in addition to herbal supplements. It is vital to Jo and her team to have personal experience with the products they sell and recommend to their customers. If they don’t like a product, they won’t sell it in their shop!

Another invaluable member of Jo’s team is Lauren, an independent dog trainer, behaviourist and canine nutritionist. With Lauren’s caring nature, scientific background and wealth of knowledge, she can offer advice on nutritional health and well-being with an unbiased and understanding approach.

When the salons’ four-legged clients arrive, they are treated to a lovely lounge area to settle and relax. On my visit, I met Becky who has over 7 years as a groomer and 10 years of training, volunteering and working within the dog industry. When Betsy the Cockerpoo arrived, I observed Becky put her at ease with lots of cuddles and treats before starting her comprehensive grooming process!!
